Teenage Life in the 1950's

                                                         Teenage Life in the 1950’s

The word Teenager was created in the 1950’s because this was the decade where teenagers became more individual and rebellious. Some of the women had a sense of individuality but most aspired to become housewives. We are led to believe that men of this age group were either jocks or greasers. They teenagers in this decade started to listen a lot less to what they’re parents said and did their own thing. One good example is music, teenagers stopped listening to what there’re parents told them to listen to and instead they started listening to what they wanted to listen which was rock and roll music.
Growing up as a teenager you were supposed to take life very seriously because of WW2. Either you were going to go out and find a job or join the military. Teenagers also had their own style they made new style of clothing, dances, and hairstyles. Parents were opposed to this. They’re parents were shocked at what they were seeing because they never had the same freedom their kids had.
