Teenage Life in the 1950's

                                                         Teenage Life in the 1950’s

The word Teenager was created in the 1950’s because this was the decade where teenagers became more individual and rebellious. Some of the women had a sense of individuality but most aspired to become housewives. We are led to believe that men of this age group were either jocks or greasers. They teenagers in this decade started to listen a lot less to what they’re parents said and did their own thing. One good example is music, teenagers stopped listening to what there’re parents told them to listen to and instead they started listening to what they wanted to listen which was rock and roll music.
Growing up as a teenager you were supposed to take life very seriously because of WW2. Either you were going to go out and find a job or join the military. Teenagers also had their own style they made new style of clothing, dances, and hairstyles. Parents were opposed to this. They’re parents were shocked at what they were seeing because they never had the same freedom their kids had.

How gps relates to Brave New World

The article kids who skip school are tracked by gps has a lot in common with the book Brave New World. The Anaheim Union High School District are treating kids like lab rats; trying to figure out what is going to keep the students from skipping school. I understand this may help; but you shouldn't use it on kids with 4 unexcused absences. Maybe the students have good reasons to why there skipping school. They can possibly be taking care of a little sibling that is sick and there parents are at work. Maybe that student had to go to a funeral. Maybe the student missed the school bus. Maybe the student just got to school late for the first time. The school district is being to strict and to me this is just to much.
The students are required to check in with there gps system 5 times a day. Are you kidding me? Why would you have the student check in at 8:00pm? You're just invading there privacy, but no it goes further someone calls you 3 times a week to see how your doing? Excuse me since when did they become there parents? Now i understand they are trying to keep students in school and thats fine.
This new project that they are testing out should be used on students that have had 8 or more unexcused absences. Why would you punish kids that are coming to school and only have a few absences? The article says that the school is is losing money for every absence they have and the program itself pays that money back. Sounds like the Anaheim Union High School District is using this for there own profit. This is like a business to the school district. Why are they promoting a business? Whens there supposed to be promoting a school which is for educating students not making money. I just thought I let you know how i felt on this whole issue.
Now you ask how does the book Brave New World compare to this article? The Anaheim Union High School District are controlling the students. It's like big brother is watching them. Why do you care where the students are at at 8:00pm? Honestly, its none of your business. I just believe there over doing this gps thing. The district is being to pushy and if this is not well liked, there will be a revolt and the ending won't look pretty.

Restraunt Review

Applebee’s
Applebee’s is an American restaurant that serves quality dishes. The service I received was excellent. As soon as I walked in Applebee’s the hostess came up to me and greeted me with positive body language. She gave me the menu and my drinks fairly quickly. The menu was very easy to read and skim through. There was one downfall and that was that the food wasn’t brought to me until 15 to 20 minutes later which I didn’t appreciate. While i was waiting I looked around and I just enjoyed the scenery. There were lots of TV’s and one of my favorite shows just happened to be on. It was on ESPN and the show was called First Take.
I ordered the mozzarella sticks and to me it really didn’t matter how long I waited because what I ordered tasted fantastic. That sauce was one of the best sauces I ever had in a while. It was definitely better than the sauce they have at our school. The mozzarella sticks weren’t greasy at all as others have said. Overall, I loved my experience at Applebee’s I just think they need to be faster about the food.

The Gold Rush Review

Baldish Singh
Gold Rush
Charlie Chaplin was the director, editor, producer, writer, and the main character of the silent movie the Gold Rush. I think that’s pretty amazing, for a one person to do all of that. So much work was put by one person which makes the movie even better. The movie was released June 26, 1925. The Gold Rush was one of the best movies ever created by Charlie Chaplin said one critic. The viewers loved the creativity and comedy in the movie. In 1942, Charlie re-released the movie Gold Rush with composed and recorded music with narration which he did on his own. The storyline of the movie fits perfectly with the title of the movie because Charlie tries to find the gold.
Charlie Chaplin travels to Yukon to take part of the Klondike Gold Rush. On his way he gets trapped in a cabin with two other people. One was a prospector and an escaped fugitive. After they all went their separate ways Charlie landed in a gold rush town and decided to give up looking for gold.  He decides to take up a job at a cabin. While he works at a cabin he finds beautiful women named Georgia. He has fallen for her and he thinks he she fallen for him to.
The two main actors were Charlie Chaplin and Georgia Hale. I actually enjoyed their performances; I believed everything they did was close to perfection. One big thing I liked about their acting was there body languages. There was one film technique that got to me and that was when they put the camera at a different angle. It made me believe that the house was really tilted and the house really fell off the cliff.
Overall, I really liked the film; I didn’t think I would like it because the movie came out in 1925. The movie just seemed to me that it would be really boring because it’s in black and white and it’s a silent movie. Now I have a different perspective over older movies it makes me want to watch from movies from that age. I’d have to say my favorite part of the movie was when big Jim started to see Charlie Chaplin as a big chicken. I didn’t think they had that kind of technology back in that time.

Satire

This a good example of Satire because, Nike represents Tiger Woods and Nike's motto is just do it. In this picture it say's just do her because he cheated on his wife with lots of women.

Tiananmen Square protests of 1989

The Tiananmen Square Protests of 1989 picture is a very important to me because it shows that if a 19 year old student can get in front of a tank and stop 3 others from moving on that anybody can do anything what they put their mind to. He put up a statement towards communism; he wanted this entire communism to end.
The protest was mainly led by students and intellectuals, the protests mainly occurred in 1989 when a number of communist governments around the world collapsed. The death of Hu Yaobang basically ignited the protest.  Are the Chinese so different from the Americans? Even American students protested against things they didn’t like.
The Tiananmen Square Protest was a peaceful protest by a student, but in China normally peaceful protesters in China come in a violent end.
